Newton's first law of motion is all about INERTIA! When an object is at rest it will stay at rest unless and outside force comes in. This law is used in everyday life, for example when you drop your pencil on the floor, it will stay there until you pick it up. Inertia is a force such as a pull, if you are in the car the seatbelt is the inertia that stops you from moving forward. There are objects that have greater inertia then others. If you have a full cup of water and a empty cup the full cup has a greater mass therefore it has more inertia because it is more difficult to move from one place to another. Just remember if you are ever wondering if an object will stay in place just remember the first law!
